T-Shirt Quilt

From the scrap bag to something cozy, comfy, warm and cuddly. T-shirt quilts are fun to make and a great way to recycle used clothing.

All you need is some old t-shirts; Cotton, Flannel or Fleece fabric for backing; Printed or solid cotton fabric if banding; Batting (unless using fleece for the backing); Medium weight, woven, fusible interfacing (enough to back all the t-shirt blocks); Matching or coordinating thread, a sewing machine, and a bit of time.

The one shown used the backs of 11 t-shirts, the small logo on the front from 9, and 3 small blocks embroidered with personalization information.

  1. Oh COOL!! I've been looking for instructions to a t-shirt quilt! I have t-shirts from high school I want to save but not wear. I've already cut them in preparation but stopped there. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I've been wanting to make one of these for some time now and I'm sure I have plenty of Tee Shirts for 3 or 4 of them. Great way to keep the memories alive.

  6. Wow! Awesome idea! I used some of my son's favorite t-shirts, that no longer fit him, to make some small throw pillows. This would be a great addition to make.
