Black Friday Sale Alert

Black Friday

Just in time to finish up Christmas gifts in the process, or to start completely new projects, I'll be listing many different fat quarters on my eBay ID catsdontmeow for $1.25 each.

I'm happy to combine shipping, so grab whatever you can use (or must have for your fabric stash!).  All my fat quarters are 100% cotton, measure 18" X 22", and are calico or novelty fabrics from a variety of designers and manufacturers including Hoffman, Alexander Henry, Debbie Mumm, Fabri-Quilt, South Seas Imports, Heidi Grace, Fabric Traditions, Galaxy, Maywood Studios, and so many others.

Also, while you are surfing the web to find great craft deals and steals on Black Friday, check out the auctions on my eBay ID dream77catcher.  I've got some fun things planned with fabric, patterns and decals.

I hope you can join us for some good old fashioned cyber shopping!

As usually, Happy Crafting

Giveaways Returning and Charity of the Month

I know how much everyone LOVES to get something for free, right? Well beginning September 1st, we'll have a fun new giveaway for you. It will run the month of September and will launch our new Charity of the Month drives. Each month we will feature a different charity, there will be portions of the proceeds from specific items that will go towards the charity, and depending on what the charity does, we hope to have other fun ways to help. For instance, the Dress a Girl Around the World drive we did a while back.

It's important that we give something back to those who need our help. September's charity will be Project Linus. Their mission to provide blankets to seriously ill children is one that is close to me. I have chosen this charity for September due to a dear friend of mine and the struggles she and her husband faced with their newborn's heart issues. With her permission, I'll tell you their story with the big September announcements.

We'll also be listed with Giveaway Scout, a giveaway search engine.

So stay tuned!

Happy Crafting!

Who Are We?

We need a new blog name. What do you think? Cathy owns and operates Captive Illusions, an eBay based store which sells things such as quilt fats, sewing patterns and ceramic decals. And De'Anna owns and operates Captive Embroidery, a new spin-off from Captive Illusions specializing in machine embroidery on anything from tote bags to baby blankets to Christmas stockings through ArtFire. Between the two of us, we sew, quilt, crochet, knit (a little), and do whatever fun projects we can. Now that we are 2 separate companies, but still one blog, we need a new name for it.

So help us re-name our blog by commenting with your suggestion. Something fun an crafty sounding. We'll pick the suggestion we like the best, and the suggester will get a little something special. Don't know what yet, it's as much of a surprise for you as it is for us. :)

Captive Embroidery

ArtFire - Buy Handmade - Sell Handmade
Have you noticed the lack of embroidery in our eBay store? Well, there is a good reason for it. 1/2 of Captive Illusions has now become Captive Embroidery. Cathy will continue to run the eBay store as Captive Illusions, and De'Anna will be taking the embroidery. We will still be working in conjunction but will be 2 separate businesses. To keep the business separate, we have taken all the embroidery off eBay and are moving it to ArtFire. It's a site for homemade and art products and supplies and I'll be slowly transitioning all our embroidery there.

In the coming weeks, you will see out Christmas stockings going up. Some old favorites and some new fun styles. I'm also working on some fun new baby items which will go up as soon as I have them perfected. In addition to anything you see listed, we do a lot of custom work so don't be afraid to ask for something special.

Captive Illusions (dream77catcher on eBay) will still be there and offering the cotton fabric, ceramic decals, sewing patterns, AccuQuilt GO! and accessories, along with anything else that catches Cathy's eye. Through this transition, and past it, both companies will continue to be dedicated to customer service and satisfaction.

We look forward to seeing you here and reading your comments.

Pardon our Dust

You may have noticed our lack of messaging. Just when you think things are settled down and can get back to normal, life decides to throw you a curve. Well, here's all the fun stuff happening in the Captive Illusions world.
Beginning in July of this year, Captive Illusions will be splitting into 2 sister companies. Captive Illusions will remain mainly as it is doing business primarily on eBay. We will be starting a new company at that time which will take over all embroidery work, and will do business primarily on ArtFire.
Why? You may ask. Well, in addition to splitting the businesses, we are moving them. Captive Illusions will be doing business out of Idaho, and the embroidery side (name TBD) will be doing business out of Colorado.

Don't worry, the down time for business will be minimal, and you can expect the same high level of customer service and quality products (since it will still be mom and I running everything). We'll try and keep you up to date on the status of all the changes and timelines.

We'll be keeping this blog as a merging of the 2 companies, and get started on those fun new things I promised as soon as we are settled in at our new locations.
